Terms of Service
Effective: 2026-07-06
These Terms govern use of the Steve Discord bot and the stevebot.net website (together, "the Service"). By adding Steve to a Discord server, signing in at stevebot.net, or using the Service in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, remove Steve and stop using the Service.
1. What the Service does
Steve is a moderation tool. When a server administrator configures a bait channel, Steve monitors it, assigns a threat score to accounts that post there, and — depending on the server's configuration — deletes messages, issues warnings, requests moderator approval, or bans accounts. The website lets people who manage a server configure Steve's behavior for that server and review its moderation log.
2. Eligibility
You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement and comply with Discord's Terms of Service to use the Service. Signing in requires a Discord account.
3. Server administrators are responsible for moderation
Steve executes rules that server administrators configure. Administrators are responsible for their configuration and its consequences, including bans and message deletions in their server; reviewing moderation outcomes and handling appeals from their members; and ensuring their use of Steve complies with Discord's Terms and applicable law. A dry-run mode is available to observe Steve's decisions before enforcement is enabled — using it first is strongly recommended.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to harass, target, or harm individuals or communities;
- attempt to bypass, overload, probe, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
- access another server's configuration or data without holding the required Discord permissions in that server;
- use the Service for anything unlawful.
5. Availability and changes to the Service
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, uptime, or error-free operation. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time. Automated moderation makes mistakes; the Service does not guarantee that it will catch every bad actor or never act on a legitimate account.
6. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service — for a user, a server, or entirely — at any time, with or without notice, including for violation of these Terms or abuse of the Service. You can stop using the Service at any time by removing Steve from your server and no longer signing in.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of the Service is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, members, revenue, or server access arising from use of the Service.
8. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated. The effective date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after an update means acceptance of the revised Terms.
