You set the bait
As the server owner or admin, create a channel everyone can post in but no one should, and don't announce it. That's your whole job — pick it in the dashboard and Steve takes it from here.

Steve does the math
Anyone who posts in the bait channel gets scored — message content first, account profile second. Every point is listed in your log channel. Nothing is a vibe check.

Bots go, humans stay
High scores are banned instantly. Established members get a grace warning they can acknowledge. Everything in between waits for a moderator's call.
Every action is a sum
This is Steve's actual default scoring table, not a metaphor. Ban at 50+. Every number is tunable per server from the dashboard.

Grace period
Established members who slip up get a warning and a ✅ to click. Acknowledge it, nothing happens.
Moderator review
Uncertain cases become an approve / purge / cancel card in your staff channel. Steve waits.
Role whitelist
Whitelisted roles are never auto-banned — they get a "were you compromised?" check instead.

Is Steve free?
Yes. Steve is free for every server, with no locked features and no paywalls. It's funded by optional donations toward hosting.
What is a bait channel, and why does it work?
A bait channel is a channel everyone can post in but no real member has any reason to — you create it and don't announce it. Spam bots don't read the room: they post their scam in every channel they can reach, including the bait. The moment one does, Steve scores the message and the account and acts before your members ever see the spam.
Will Steve ban real members by mistake?
It's built not to. Established members get a grace warning they can dismiss with a reaction instead of a ban, uncertain cases wait in a moderator approval queue, whitelisted roles are never auto-banned, and dry-run mode lets Steve log what it would have done without touching anyone until you arm it.
How do I set up Steve?
Create a channel everyone can post in, sign in at stevebot.net with Discord, add Steve to your server, and pick the bait channel in the dashboard. It takes about two minutes, and every scoring threshold is tunable per server.
What happens when Steve catches a bot?
Bot accounts and high threat scores are banned immediately and the message is deleted. Every action is recorded and posted to your mod-log channel as an itemized score, so you always see exactly why Steve did what it did.
Does Steve read all my messages?
Steve processes messages to do moderation — it keeps short-lived activity data so it can tell a long-time regular from a three-hour-old account. Most data is kept briefly and none of it is sold. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is stored and for how long.
